Festive Outdoor Holiday Decor Ideas You Can Easily DIY
Now that we’ve celebrated Thanksgiving, Cyber Monday, and #GivingTuesday, it’s time to wrap up 2016 with festive outdoor holiday decor! Your front entrance and porch should be welcoming and is a great place to showcase your family’s unique personality. Our outdoor experts design custom-created outdoor holiday displays, and have put together some festive porch decoration ideas that you can easily do yourself.
Here are our go-to tricks that anyone can use to add festive finishes to their own porch for the winter holidays.
Choose a Theme
Select a decorating theme first, before buying anything. Do you like classic holiday color combinations like green/red and blue/white? Or, try choosing one bold color for all of your holiday lights! Even if you can’t decide on a favorite color, you can use all multi-colored lights for a gingerbread house-inspired look.
Use Found Items
Some of our favorite design tools for winter are totally free. Use tree branches or twigs found in your own yard! Dress them up for the holidays by tying ribbons or spray painting them with bright gold or silver paint. Classing evergreen cuttings and branches help to fill out the containers space. Red dogwoods add color naturally, and look really striking when it snows.
As you pull out holiday decor you already have, think about how to repurpose some items into new decorations for your home. Add large ornaments to outdoor containers to add a pop of color. Also try hanging wreaths from unexpected places like windows or even a back entrance (especially if it’s the most used entrance).
Decorate – but be safe!
